On Saturday, March 5th, Ben Kinmont and the Antinomian Press will be conducting a public publishing project from a van in front of the Louvre. This one-day publishing event will produce a small book concerning the work of Christopher D’Arcangelo, an American artist who was active primarily in New York and Los Angeles, 1974-79. D’Arcangelo’s activities were focused on ideas of anarchy and how to function as an artist in a capitalistic economy. His work included construction projects in private homes (in collaboration with Peter Nadin) as well as actions within and against museums, which ocurred in the Whitney, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Louvre inside which Chris had one of his anarchy actions on 9 March 1978.

Kinmont and the Antinomian Press will be gathering together selected ephemera from D’Arcangelo’s work as well as printing two interviews with his collaborator Peter Nadin and D’Arcangelo’s father, Allen. The publication will be distributed for free on the street to passersby.

à l'occasion du vernissage de son exposition chez Air de Paris et avec le cneai,

Samedi 5 mars à partir d’une camionnette circulant à proximité du Louvre,
Ben Kinmont imprimera et diffusera une publication en direct.
Durant cette action éphémère, il éditera un petit ouvrage sur le travail de Christopher D’Arcangelo, un artiste américain actif à New York et à Los Angeles
de 1974 à 1979, dont le travail, fortement empreint des idées anarchistes, interrogeait la place de l'artiste dans une économie capitaliste. Outre une régulière collaboration avec Peter Nadin pour des projets de chantiers dans des appartements privés (repeindre des plafonds par exemple), il a mené diverses actions contestataires au sein d’institutions muséales comme le MoMA et le Guggenheim à New York ou encore, en mars 1978, au musée du Louvre à Paris.

Ben Kinmont et Antinomian Press publient un livre rassemblant une sélection d'ephemera du travail de D’Arcangelo et deux entretiens avec Peter Nadin et le père de l’artiste.
Cette publication sera distribuée gratuitement aux passants le 5 mars 2005 entre 11 et 16 h dans l'immédiat environnement du Louvre.
